Vadnagar is an ancient city in Gujarat, India, with a history that dates back to 2,500 BCE. Archaeological excavations have revealed that the settlement, mainly agricultural in nature, existed more than 4,500 years ago. Findings such as ceramics, textile fragments, jewelry, and tools have been unearthed from areas around the present-day Sharmishtha Lake. Some archaeologists believe it could have been one of the Harappan sites. Vadnagar is the only town in India that has continuously existed since the 6th century BCE, likely due to a fortress wall that archaeological evidence suggests was built during the Mauryan period. Vadnagar is also famously known as the birthplace of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The town is home to several stunning temples, including Hatkeshwar Mahadev, Jain temples, the Temple of Ashapuri Mata, Amther Mata Temple, Nag Dharo, Nag Temple, Amarkund, and Mahakaleshwar Mahadev Temple.
