Rukmini Devi Temple

Have you ever been to Dwarka city? Dwarka is famous for its numerous temples, and the Rukmini Devi temple is one of the prominent temples in the city. The Rukmini Devi temple in Dwarka is situated only 1-2 kilometers away from the main city.

This temple is rooted in a significant belief. According to legend, once Rukmini and Lord Krishna went to invite Durvasha for dinner. During their visit, Rukmini became thirsty. To quench her thirst, Lord Krishna struck the ground with his toe, summoning the holy river, Ganga.

Rukmini drank the water without offering it to Durvasha, which angered him. As a result, Durvasha cursed Rukmini, stating that she would be separated from her loving husband. This curse later came true.

The temple is especially known for the beautifully carved exterior walls. Visitors can reach the temple by walking for 5-10 minutes or by taking a rickshaw.

According to some beliefs, Lord Krishna resides with his family at this place to bless his devotees. This belief attracts many devotees of Lord Krishna to the temple. Although it lacks factual evidence, people strongly hold onto it. The number of devotees increases significantly during Janmashtami.

Another belief associated with the temple is that Radha and Rukmini are the same soul with different names.
